Monique Rodriguez, Ph.D., NCC
Licensed Professional Counselor
My name is Monique Rodriguez. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Counselor Educator. My website is intended to give you an overview of my work and interests. In your search for a therapist I encourage you to read through my pages to see if I am the right fit for you and contact me for specific information on how I may be able to help you.
I work from a body-centered Gestalt therapy approach. Gestalt therapy is a therapy of growth and wellness. Gestalt therapy doesn’t solve problems; rather Gestalt therapy offers more options. I believe change comes from becoming more aware of who you are and the focus of my work is to help you increase awareness of how you are in the world and assist in unblocking barriers to being fully alive.
Working from a body-centered approach opens up options for understanding, experiencing, healing, and becoming aware of issues that traditional talk therapy is often unable to access. I believe our bodily experience forms the base of our relationships and by bringing awareness to our bodies in therapy, we gain access to memories, emotions, and beliefs that are otherwise outside of our consciousness.
At Austin Embodied Therapy I specialize in working with addiction and adult survivors of trauma and childhood abuse. I am experienced in working with adult children of dysfunctional families and helping daughters understand mothers with Borderline Personality Disorder.
I commend you for your desire to want change in your life. Taking the first step of calling a therapist can be scary. Trust your self, your desire, and give me a call. I look forward to walking beside you as you begin this journey. If you have additional questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please contact me at 512-902-4357 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
